Q, Q, A: Quotes, Questions, and Answers

“The mark of a great church is not its seating capacity, but its sending capacity.” —Mike Stachura

Why should I participate in the Global Focus Seminar? It will help us remember who we are and what we are supposed to be doing. Life in the 21st century is fast-paced and bombards us with many distractions. As a result, we can stay busy doing things that are good but not essential. Every Christian is invited, called, and empowered to be on mission for God. This seminar will help us individually and as a church refocus our energy on the essential of missions. By participating, you will learn how to better support and pray for our missions endeavors, as well as learn ways to become personally involved in global missions.

“A congregation that is not deeply and earnestly involved in the worldwide proclamation of the gospel does not understand the nature of
salvation.” —Ted Engstrom, World Vision

If the Dawson Family of Faith is participating in and supporting missions at record levels, why do we need to be doing more? We live in a rare open window of human history. We have opportunities to take the message of Jesus to parts of our world that less than 20 years ago were closed to a Christian witness. Medical, education, sports, and construction teams are invited to regions of the world that in the past used every means to restrict the entry of Christians. These windows of opportunity may close soon. While our church has made significant strides in missions activity, we have just scratched the surface.

“It is possible for the most obscure person in a church, with a heart right toward God, to exercise as much power for the evangelization of the world, as it is for those who stand in the most prominent positions.”
—John R. Mott

Should I attend even if, due to other obligations, I cannot participate in all sessions? Absolutely. Attend the sessions you can and pray for the others.

Your pastor,

Gary Fenton
